When transitioning to a new association, a transfer of your MLS provider is often required and it is critical to understand that data does not carry over from one database to another, even when both systems run on Paragon. A new User ID means a new database, and that new database may not share the same entry fields, query fields or property classes as your previous one. This fundamental difference in structure is precisely why information cannot be automatically migrated between systems. Knowing this upfront allows you to approach the transfer process with clear expectations, take the necessary steps to preserve your data, and re-establish your presence in the MLS with confidence and accuracy.
Understand What CAN Transfer in Paragon
Nothing. The following data can be imported to your new Paragon ID:
- Contacts
Note: You will have to export your contacts via .csv from the current database before access is terminated and import into SDMLS Paragon, this is not an automatic process courtesy of any MLS.
Understand What Does NOT Transfer in Paragon
You will need to manually set up the following after your transfer to SDMLS Paragon:
- Paragon Preferences — must be set up again
Re-upload your agent photo and signature.
- Saved Spreadsheets — must be re-created
- Saved Searches — must be re-created
- Custom Reports — must be re-created
- Lockbox key and any lockboxes you own — not included in this transfer
- Listing History from prior brokerages — will not be transferred to new User ID, but inventory searches are available if there is a data-share
Run an Inventory Search by Agent DRE#
This process is only available for MLSs that data-share with SDMLS Paragon:
Use the steps below to search inventory using your DRE license number:
- Click on Multi Class in Paragon.
- Remove all Statuses and County filters.
- Click in the List Agent DRE License # field for search number 1
Enter your DRE license number. Then click Search and print or export results.
- Click in the Selling Agent DRE # field for search number 2.
- Enter your DRE license number. Then click Search and print or export results.
This process will display data on two separate inventory spreadsheets, with inventory from all MLSs participating in data-share with SDMLS Paragon.
Tip: Do not put your DRE license number in both list agent and sell agent fields as this will only display results for listings where you represent both seller and buyer for one transaction.
What is Data Share?
A data share in the context of real estate Multiple Listing Service (MLS) platforms is a formal agreement between two or more MLS organizations to exchange, integrate and display their listing data. This arrangement enables real estate professionals to view, search and market properties from a neighboring or partner MLS directly within their primary, "native" MLS system.
